Our Core Beliefs at
Christ's Church Nursery School

Our School:
Christ’s Church Nursery School, which was opened by a church member in 1981, is operated as a community service by the Parish of Christ's Church. The school is non-profit and non-sectarian and has an open admission policy. Our school serves children from two to five years old.

We are licensed by the State of Connecticut and have been accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) since 2003.

The school is governed by a board of trustees which is chaired by the Rector. The board is comprised of the rector, co-directors of the CCNS, parents of students and members of the parish.

Our Mission:
As a mission of the Parish of Christ’s Church, the purpose of Christ’s Church Nursery School is to encourage intellectual, emotional, physical, social and spiritual development in children through a developmentally balanced curriculum, a nurturing and guiding relationship with teachers and family, in an environment where children will grow in self-esteem, participate in healthy relationships with those around them, and develop a responsible concern for the environment.

The CCNS philosophy -- (Our Four "G"s) :

Golden Rule:
We believe in creating a stimulating educational environment that is infused with the Golden Rule of Compassion: treat others the way you want to be treated. This familiar theme is one we teach in social development, academics, and play. We believe the basic message of the Golden Rule reinforces the positive character development and respectful behavior which are so important in elementary school years and beyond.

Gratitude:
We encourage all children to develop an awareness of gratitude and see the good in the world about them.

Green:
We believe in teaching environmental awareness and stewardship at an early age. Our beautiful country setting includes a pond, gardens, a little “mountain”, a wonderful playground, and plenty of grass and land for kids to experience the joy of the natural world. Furthermore, we have local organic farms and orchards to explore and enjoy. We will model green practices by recycling, composting and conserving. Being green will be “second nature” for the kids in our school!

Go Technology!:
Our school will expose children to 21st century technology in a fun and stimulating way. With the addition of a SMARTboard to our school we will have an interactive technological tool that is engaging, versatile, and a cornerstone in 21st century schools.
